Mission Statement

Welcome to the Cherokee-Moravian Historical Association

The Cherokee-Moravian Historical Association was established in the spring of 2004. Programs for members and the general public are held semi-annually and a newsletter is published.

The association plans to assist in locating the 19th century Cherokee Moravian settlements in Oklahoma and in providing historical markers. We plan to assist in locating and marking graves of the Cherokee members of the old Moravian missions.

The association hopes also to partner with colleges, universities, and historic sites to hold seminars focused on the Moravians' connection to the Cherokee and other Southeastern Indians, and facilitate the publication of the records of the Cherokee Moravian settlements in Georgia and present day Oklahoma.

Most importantly, the association hopes to serve as a catalyst for the continuing relationship between today's Cherokee and Moravian people.
